The Theatre Arts degree provides you with a broad-based academic foundation for further study and career opportunities.
You will have the opportunity to engage theatre art and practice through coursework and productions. Students will take part in theatrical production work as actors and technical crew members, and you will be encouraged to explore your creative and academic potential.
This is primarily a transfer program as most graduates continue their education to complete a bachelor's degree and beyond.
The college annually hosts a week-long residency with Shakespeare and Company of Lenox, Massachusetts, offering a variety of workshops guided by professional actors from the troupe.
Named after the Academy Award winning actress and Troy native, the Maureen Stapleton Theatre is the main classroom and performance space for the Theatre Arts program. The theater is located in the Siek Campus Center and also hosts many of the college's major cultural events.
Student Productions
In conjunction with the Theatre Club, students have recently staged Passion Play, Dog Sees God, Noises Off, Hamlet and Bus Stop. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively in a variety of on stage or backstage roles in many productions, and students also have the chance to stage and direct one act plays.
